Imperial Eagle Banner

Yes my friends, here you have a tutorial to paint a banner from a beer logo. This one is for the space marine squad I entered into German golden demon 05. I hope you find the tutorial useful

First of all, you should paint the backgronud of the banner. I used black and chocolat brown from Vallejo model colours. I painted a subtle effect on it with three lights but you can paint it in black or brown or in the colour you prefer with just three lights!

And now, we start to paint the drawing. Carefully we must paint the border of the logo being patient with the proportions (photo1). When you finish the process, paint the drawing in the basecoat colour for the eagle like (photo2). I used orange brown and lemon yellow (50%-50%).

Hehe, hard? noo! cool We continue. Now we should blacklinning, more carefully if possible, the eagle (photo3). (It isn´t necessary to paint each line of the logo, think it is smaller )

Next step...Start to paint each feather, one by one! hehe. In photo 4 and 5 you have different steps of the work. We used three colours to paint it. orange brown, lemon yellow and white. Three or four layers of paint for each feather.

WHITE FEATHERS: basecoat->lemon yellow and white (20%-80%) highlight adding white to the mix until pure white.

YELLOW FEATHERS: basecoat->orange brown and lemon yellow (30%-70%) highlight adding yellow to the mix until pure lemon and then the last light adding a bit of white.

ORANGE-YELLOW FEATHERS: basecoat->orange brown and lemon yellow (50%-50%) highlight adding yellow to the mix until pure lemon.

ORANGE FEATHERS: basecoat->orange brown with a bit of red (90%-10%) highlight adding orange brown until pure colour and then adding yellow lemon until a mix of orange and yellow of 70%-30%.

The last photo is the final result of all the time we spent painting. We added some lettering on the free areas of the banner in beige
